eir complaints Ireland: billing and cancellation
How to raise an eir complaint in Ireland, challenge a bill or cancellation charge, and prepare for the next step.
Check your dispute first
Answer a few questions to see your options before writing your complaint.
Check your optionsIf you disagree with an eir bill or cancellation charge, complain to the provider with the account number, disputed amount and relevant dates. Ask for a complaint reference and a written explanation. eir’s complaints page links to its online complaint form and lists its dedicated complaints number, 1800 303 455. Include the account and service concerned so your complaint can be tracked.
TBD is independent and is not affiliated with this company. We help you prepare a complaint; we cannot promise a refund or decide who is legally responsible.
Check what the bill actually covers
Compare the billing period with your confirmed service end date. Separate ordinary service charges, a notice period, any early termination fee and equipment charges. Returning a router, stopping a payment or switching one part of a bundle does not establish that every service has ended.
Make the request specific
Tell eir which entries you dispute and why. Attach the cancellation confirmation, relevant contract terms and equipment-return proof. Ask it to explain the basis of each charge and correct any error. Keep paying attention to new bills and correspondence while the complaint is open.
A message you can adapt
“Please record my complaint about account [reference]. You confirmed that [service] ended on [date], but the bill dated [date] includes [charge]. Please explain the period and terms behind this amount, correct any error and provide your written response.” Replace the brackets with your own facts; this is not an actual customer case.
When to contact ComReg
For communications complaints within its remit, ComReg’s rules require an acknowledgement within two working days and a complaint response within ten working days. A response is not a guarantee that the issue will be resolved within that period. Consult ComReg’s current consumer-care guidance if the response is missing or you remain dissatisfied. Check the appropriate route for a TV-only complaint rather than assuming every part of a bundle is covered.
